Moschops capensis has a thick skull like an armor that increases the defense of the pre-hobby brain, plunging its head into all things.

Scientist Julien Benoit of the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa in the new study showed that the thick, flat and long skull of the Moschops capensis is the evolutionary result of the stabbing behavior in this species, BGR on 11/11. 8 coverage.

Moschops lived about 260 million years ago, about 2.7-5m long, has a small brain, is said to be a herbivore and likes to plunge into all things. The fossil of Moschops capensis was discovered in both South Africa and Russia.

Using modern scanning technology on fossilized skulls, scientists discovered the skull arch of this species is particularly thick."This natural helmet can be as thick as 15cm, equivalent to armor protection , " Benoit said.

According to the researchers' hypothesis, the thick bones help this species protect the brain and the senses from head-to-head strikes between males when fighting partners or protecting the territory. The process of evolution thus creates a solid-looking animal, a silly-looking face and a skull being born to confront.
