A powerful dust storm on April 7 suddenly swept through Churu city in Rajasthan state, northern India. The footage recorded by the local people shows a wall of tens of meters of thick dust and sand covering the entire city, making the sky dark for an hour.

According to the Indian Meteorological Bureau, the storm formed from the Thar desert , not far from the city. This is the strongest dust storm that swept through Churu in the last 20 years. The storm did not cause damage to people but property losses were not small when devastating many houses and agricultural crops; causing power outages in some areas and causing many flights to be delayed.

Dust storms are a natural phenomenon common in arid and semi-arid regions. They often form in desert or dry, sandy terrain. Strong storms can be accompanied by winds of up to 150 - 200 km / h, sweeping sand up high kilometers.
