On June 21, the Taiwanese Territorial Authority (China) recorded the first human H6N1 virus infection in the world, because it was the only strain discovered in poultry.
According to Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control (CDC) (China), the case of H6N1 is a 20-year-old woman.

The patient developed flu symptoms on 5 May and was hospitalized with mild pneumonia and is now recovering. Subsequent tests showed patients were positive for the H6N1 avian influenza virus strain.
CDC said the female patient mentioned above worked for a breakfast shop, had never left Taiwanese territory (China) and had any direct contact with poultry species.
Meanwhile, the H6N1 virus was not found in two poultry farms near the patient's living area. People who have been in contact with patients have no symptoms of flu and have a positive reaction to the virus.
In April last year, the territory of Taiwan also recorded the first case of H7N9 avian influenza virus outside mainland China. The patient was a 53-year-old woman who worked in the East China area.
Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a notice advising people to avoid direct contact, feeding poultry or visiting live poultry markets to mainland China.
