A Chinese man living alone in the estrangement of the people because of a skin disease that cannot be cured, makes him look rough like a tree trunk.

It all started around the 50s of the twentieth century, when Mr. Li Xitian , 58, who lived in Ha Nam province, was a boy, went to a barber shop and was accidentally scratched by a worker. A small pimple has formed from that scratch and spread from head, neck, shoulder to foot.

The ugly appearance made Mr. Li shunned by the people. They called Li 'the bark' , trying to avoid it, scare him when he saw him for fear of cracks, the ragged acne on his body could be infected.

Mr. Li went to the hospital to check and know that the disease he had was called psoriasis, a form of disease that is caused by affecting environmental factors.

In many cases, the symptoms of psoriasis are floating red spots on the body, but Mr. Li's case is very rare. There is currently no definitive treatment for this skin disease.

Mr. Li said he spent nearly $ 12,000 on medical treatment, but doctors could only provide a way to help him avoid spreading the disease, which could not be cured. Experts also could not find a link between his condition and the scratch the hairdresser caused a few dozen years ago.

Currently, Mr. Li lives on local grants and hopes to get more help so he can cure the disease, live a more comfortable life.

Dr. Emma Wedgeworth, working at Britain's Foundation Skin charity, said Li's case showed how skin diseases can seriously affect a person's life. Although Mr. Li has psoriasis, it is rare and requires more intensive treatment.

What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, dark or silver patches on the skin surface. Scales often appear on the elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, but can also appear anywhere on the body.

All ages can get this disease. The severity of the disease in each person is not the same. Some cause mild irritation, while for others, it greatly affects the quality of life.

A person will get psoriasis when the body's production of skin cells takes place quickly.

Usually the skin cells are replaced every three to four months, but if psoriasis occurs, this process lasts only about three to seven days. This process leads to continuous accumulation of skin cells. Some cases get sick after suffering a skin damage, infection or side effects of certain medications. This is not contagious, so it cannot spread from person to person. Several studies have shown that the disease may be related to genetic factors.

Currently there is no thorough treatment, but a range of methods can be used to improve symptoms and prevent the appearance of affected skin patches.
