The mermaid does not exist

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) yesterday confirmed that fishermen do not exist because humanity has no evidence of them.

"Humans have never discovered any evidence of mermaids, " the NOAA website said.

NOAA's announcement was made amid a cable channel broadcasting a documentary about fishers at the end of May. Many people emailed NOAA to ask about the viability of the latter. when watching this documentary, Telegraph reported.

Anecdotes about mermaids have haunted sailors' minds for thousands of years.

"We do not have any research programs related to fish," a NOAA spokeswoman told the BBC.

The mermaid - the mysterious creature that bears the form of the person in the upper half of the body and the shape of the fish in the lower half - has appeared in the treasure of folklore for a long time. They appear in the famous Greek epic The Odyssey. Ancient people in the Far East believed that mermaids were wives of sea dragons - magical creatures and carried out the task of communicating between sea dragons and kings and lords on land.

Belief in the existence of fishmen begins from the dawn of mankind. Archaeologists find many pictures of fishmen in caves of prehistoric people. Ancient people painted them in the late stages of the Stone Age (about 30,000 years ago). At that time, humans dominated the ground and began to move to the sea.

Scientists believe that when ancient sailors crossed the sea, they often saw manatees and dugongs (an animal that is related to manatees) and mistakenly thought they were mermaids. According to a legend, when explorer Christopher Columbus, who found the Americas, saw a manatee, he was surprised that "it is not so bad."

"Why do fish stories still haunt sailors' minds until today? We asked this question to historians, philosophers and anthropologists," NOAA commented.
