British scientists say surgical delivery is increasing in developing countries and this method may be more risky for women and their babies than for natural delivery.

According to researchers, in the postpartum period of mothers who give birth by caesarean section, women often have high fever and may need to be treated with antibiotics, affecting breast-feeding, dragging risk of preterm birth and increased mortality in both mother and infant.

Survey results of 97,000 births in eight South American countries, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Peru show that the risk of death in children born by surgical method increases by 10-20%. compared to other children. Experts say the study will be controversial in the UK, where women are asking for freedom to choose a method of childbirth.

Caesarean section rates in British women have more than doubled in the last 20 years, with nearly 22% of all babies born. The Royal College of England, which specializes in training of reproductive officials, strongly opposed the caesarean birth method, arguing that this method has taken away the natural reproductive function of women. In the UK, the cost of a birth by this method is £ 3,200 ($ 6,000), almost double the cost of a normal birth.
