Bolt, the name of the dove, is one of the items Pipa, an online pigeon auction company, sells. The person who won the right to buy it was a Chinese businessman. This person spent 310,000 euros (more than 8 billion VND). At that price, Bolt became the most expensive pigeon in the world.

"A Picasso painting is much more valuable than the work of an anonymous artist. The same holds true for pigeons , " Nikolaas Gyselbrecht, Pipa's website operator, told Reuters.

Leo Heremans, a bird trainer in Belgium, asked Pipa to sell the pigeon. According to him, Bolt has the ability to fly "lightning fast " so it often wins the race. So he called it after Usain Bolt, the famous Jamaican athlete who won the Olympic gold medal and is the fastest runner on the planet today.

In addition to Bolt, Leo sold his collection of pigeons (530). Their total value is 4.3 million euros - a new record. The old record of auctioning pigeon collection appeared last year and is nearly half the amount Leo collected.

Gyselbrecht predicts Chinese entrepreneurs buy Bold to create new racing pigeons. Nine of the 10 most expensive birds on Pipa's website also belong to people from mainland China or Taiwan.
