The oldest collection of paleontology in Vietnam

It can be said that in Vietnam there is no such unique and ancient paleontological collection. It is here to talk about collection time.

Collection of fossil chrysanthemum (PGS Nguyen Khac Su)

When I gave it to my researcher, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Khac Su, (Institute of Archeology) said that his working group had just excavated them along with the stone tools of Hoa Binh Culture, about 10,000 years ago! These artifacts are all taken from excavation holes in Tam village, Dak Wer commune, Chu Jut district, Dak Nong province.

The uniqueness of the collection is that they have been collected by the Stone Age primitive people in our country, probably not for the purpose of making tools like the stones they created. More unique is that many pieces of fossils are actually a piece of pebbles. When crafting stone tools, primitive people beat pebbles from hard sandstone.

Some pebbles contain fossilized stone fossil (Ammonoidea) inside them. These are the ancient representatives of the First Leg class, along with live squid and octopus, with sophisticated and pretty carved shells. That beauty was noted by them, kept in place, not used as other stone tools. Looking at the stone tools used, some can be manipulated by smashing those pebbles.

It is speculated that stone fossilized fossils were used as decorations, or worship objects according to early religious beliefs. Evidence is that there is a flat grinding tablet on one side, if you build a pattern on a grinding surface, you will see a beautiful pattern as a decoration on a modern writing desk. The ingenious thing is that if the model is up in any other direction, it cannot be as beautiful as the chosen direction.

Daisies are a group of predominantly living beings in the Middle Kingdom along with dinosaurs, and were also extinct along with dinosaurs about 65 million years ago. This is a group of fossils that have been studied and played an important part in determining the age of the Middle Stone strata of our country for a long time.

Many collections of stone daisies have been collected and studied by paleontologists. But the collection provided by PGS Nguyen Khac Su is a unique collection, also one of the most beautiful collections.
