The oldest person in the world dies at the age of 117

Miyako Chiyo is a patient, kind and a 'goddess' that brings joy to those around her.

On July 27, the Japanese Ministry of Health announced that Miyako Chiyo , who holds the record for the oldest person in both Japan and the world, passed away on Sunday (July 22). enjoy the age of 117 years.

Born on May 22, 1901, Chiyo became the oldest woman in Japan after Misao Okawa - the oldest of the cherry blossoms at that time - died in April 2015. According to CNN, if the time passed away, Ms. Okawa (born on March 5, 1898) was 1 month younger than Mrs. Chiyo.

It is known that Ms. Chiyo died soon after Guinness World Records recognized her as the oldest woman in the world and also the longest living on the planet.

In a statement made by the Guinness Book of Records, the family of this 117-year-old woman described Chiyo as a patient, kind, and 'goddess' that brings joy to those around her.

Currently, Guinness has yet to determine who will be the successor of Miyako Chiyo to become Japan's oldest woman. Meanwhile, the title of Japan's oldest man is still being held by Mr. Masazo Nonaka - who just passed the age of 113 on July 25 last.
