The red fox kept jumping headfirst into the thick and mysterious snow behind.

In winter, finding food becomes extremely difficult for red foxes in North America. However, thanks to their keen sense of smell, ears that can hear very small sounds and especially the ability to calculate accurately, foxes can still catch mice.

The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is the largest species in the genus Fox, and one of the most widely distributed members of the order Carnivora, occurring throughout the entire Northern Hemisphere including most of North America, Europe and Asia plus parts of North Africa. Its range has increased with human expansion, with its introduction into Australia, where it is considered a pest of native mammals and birds. It is assessed as being of least concern by the IUCN.
