" The number of elderly people is growing year by year and many statistics show that the proportion of elderly people living alone is increasing ," Discovery quoted Johann Siau, a lecturer in the digital communications department at the University of Hertfordshire. in the UK.

Discovery said that Siau and his colleagues are working on a smart home project called InterHome. The initial goal of the project was to allow home owners to operate their home or office equipment using a computer or a cell phone. It also helps homeowners reduce their electricity consumption every day.

But in order for the smart home to help the elderly, the team decided to add a sensor bracelet system capable of tracking many of the body's indicators, such as body temperature and heart rate. people. If there is an abnormal index, it will signal an alarm.

For example, in the case of a person falling, the bracelet will measure the heartbeat immediately to see if he is stunned or fainted. It's an early warning system. It can send alarm messages to all landlord followers , 'Siau said.

Handbrake connected to home system over wifi signal. Data from the device is transmitted to the system and only pre-registered subscribers can access.

Siau's team also considers adding other services to the smart home system, such as sending a warning message when a person with dementia goes astray and does not go home.

The UK government is interested in the InterHome project and sponsors Siau's group. Researchers are collaborating with the BRE Group in Watford to test the system in real homes.
