According to Professor Katie Tripp, director of the manatee relief organization, the probability of twins in this species is only about 1%. At present, the manatee family is quite safe because in places where they live, boats are limited in speed. However, they will face a tougher environment in the next few weeks as they travel to the Gulf of Mexico.
A couple of weeks old baby sea pigs have not yet been named. The mother is called CR707. According to a government report, it was first discovered in 2008 and has never given birth in 2011.
