Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska, welcomes the white lion on November 21. It is the son of the mother lion Ahadi, the Big Dad lion and the first white lion born in this zoo.

Zoo officials said the lion's distinctive white coat color from the recessive gene originated from a group of lions in Krueger National Park, South Africa. However, according to UPI, they have not identified the cause of the lion at Henry Doorly zoo carrying this gene.

There are only a few white lions living in Timbavatio area, in Krueger National Park, South Africa. The tribes living here believe that white lions embody the spirit of their ancestors.
