Professor Trinh Xuan Thuan was born in 1948 in Hanoi. From an early age, he was passionate about astronomy. He is intelligent and eager to learn, so he is good at both literary and natural subjects. His research focuses on understanding the evolution of galaxies and the chemical structure of the universe.

After graduating from high school at Jean Jacques Rousseau school in Saigon (now Le Quy Don High School, Ho Chi Minh City) in 1966, Trinh Xuan Thuan went to Switzerland to study physics. After a year, although he was not fluent in English, he won a second straight scholarship of the three most prestigious universities in the United States.

Trinh Xuan Thuan studied at the California Institute of Technology from 1967 to 1970, then studied at Princeton University from 1970 to 1974. He defended his doctoral thesis at Princeton University and taught astrophysics at the University of Virginia from 1976 until now. In addition, Professor Thuan worked for the Paris Institute of Astrophysics and was one of the founders of the International Association of Science and Religion.

Not only famous in academic circles with more than 120 works published in scientific journals and the proceedings of scientific conferences, Professor Trinh Xuan Thuan was also instrumental in bringing astronomy closer to the public.

Language researcher Cao Xuan Hao once commented on Trinh Xuan Thuan as ' a sensual scientist, logical thinking of a scientist, philosopher and imagination of a famous poet. valve'.

Prof. Thuan has released many valuable books on cosmology and the relationship between science and Buddhism such as Mysterious Tone (1988), Big Bang and then (1992), Chaos and harmony ( 1998).

In 2007, Professor Trinh Xuan Thuan was awarded the Moron Prize of the French Academy. In 2009, he was awarded the Kalinga Prize by UNESCO for his contributions to scientific popularization.
