US Aethlon Medical biotech company is building a handheld device that can remove the virus from the blood stream called the Hemo-purifier. Hemo-purifier resembles dialysis apparatus - dialysis equipment for patients with renal failure.
Both use a filter to remove toxins from the blood. However, unlike traditional dialysis, Hemo-purifier also has antibodies derived from plants. These antibodies bind to many viruses and eliminate them from the blood.
Expected clinical trials will start in the US later this year.
