Tool for Windows Home Server

Microsoft has just released an application programming interface (API) and software development for the upcoming Windows Home Server platform in the near future.

AIP and developer tools will help external software design professionals create applications for the platform. The software itself is currently in beta 2 and the first tools are scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2007, priced at $ 600 to $ 1,200.

The AIP suite allows software to run on the host device to access clients, share folders, application directory management disks, hard drives, backup jobs, and notifications. Developers can also add tabs to the management console of the Home Server management software to allow users to run new applications.
