According to the latest announcement of PTWC, the first waves are approximately one meter high. Meanwhile, CNN television has transmitted live images of the island of Oahu in Hawaii state to prepare to receive waves of about 1.5 meters.
"The tsunami hit the shore as we expected. When the tsunami happens, the first wave may not be large, but the next waves are usually very strong and cause serious flooding for low-lying areas , " the home PTWC's Gerad Fryer geology said.
In the initial forecast, tsunamis hit the Hawaii state coastal zone at 15h28 ', 30 minutes earlier than it actually was.
Earlier, a tsunami warning was issued after the 7.7-magnitude quake shook Canada's Queen Charlotte Islands. Hawaii state governor Neil Abercrombie had to declare a state of emergency, and quickly evacuated coastal residents to safe places inland. The tsunami warning center estimates that between 100,000 and 150,000 people living along the Hawaiian coast have moved to higher areas.
The earthquake occurred on October 28 in the west coast of Canada with epicenter located at a depth of 17.5 km and 745km north of Vancouver city. There has been no announcement of any significant damage to this earthquake.
