Colon Islands are volcanic islands, with rugged cliffs and volcanic hills. But this is home to many rare animals, the most unique being the big sea turtle. These turtles are over 1 meter long, weigh more than 200kg, and 2 people can ride on turtle backs. Turtles are very rare, prefer to live in coastal grasses, eat cacti as main. In 1535, when the Spaniards first arrived, it was discovered that there were many large turtles named after the island, the Galápagos, meaning Turtle Island.

The large lizard (Lacerti) is also a strange animal of the island, both terrestrial and marine. Terrestrial lizards are longer than 1 meter, sea lizards are more numerous than shallow lizards, the body is larger, darker, very long, looks like a dinosaur. It is possible that the original lizard from the middle age is only available on Colon Island.

This close-to-equatorial archipelago also includes penguins and lighthouses - species that only live in cold Arctic South. The reason is that Peruvian cold sea currents come from the Antarctic crossing, the islands are sunk in cold water, so the low temperature creates an air that is both dry and cool. The "visitors" of the newspaper, the penguins that followed the cold ocean flowed into the island, also liked to live there.

In September 1835, Darwin followed the British naval ship to survey the islands . He has discovered many species of plants and animals that have been modified to adapt to a living environment, such as: the same species of birds and turtles, shapes and behaviors have changed when they live on islands of different environments. This finding made him realize that nature also has the effect of choosing a species so that "those who are comfortable will live". People carved Darwin's bust to celebrate the days he lived and worked here.

On the island there is also a biological creature, so many people call it "the evolutionary museum of creatures". In addition to this island in India, East Africa, there is another Turtle island, the famous Aldabra island. There are about 150,000 sea turtles 2m long, weighing over 200kg and called "elephant turtles" .
