Unbelievable scene of deer eating snake and the surprising reason behind it

Witnessing the scene of a deer chewing a small snake in its mouth, most viewers could not help but be amazed .

Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda recently shared a clip of a deer chewing on a small snake .

In the clip, the deer is standing on the side of the road chewing on something. When zooming in on the image, the person in the car clearly sees the deer chewing on the carcass of a small snake. "Is it eating a snake?" , the person filming the clip said.

The clip was shared by a Forestry Department employee with the caption: "Herbivores sometimes eat snakes."

An account named Science Girl also shared this moment and explained the unusual behavior of the herbivore.

"Deer are herbivores and are classified as ruminants because their rumen helps them digest tough plant matter like cellulose. However, if food is scarce or lacking in minerals, they may turn to meat , " writes Science Girl.

According to National Geographic, deer are classified as herbivores , which means they primarily consume plant material as their primary diet. However, due to a lack of certain minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, and salt in their bodies, they may turn to eating meat. This unusual behavior usually occurs during the winter or when plant life is scarce in their environment.

Since being shared, the clip has attracted more than 152,000 views and received more than 1,733 likes. It has also sparked controversy among Twitter users. Many users were horrified after watching the clip and said that this was the first time they had witnessed such an incident in their lives.
