After hearing the loud noise on the roof, Peter Welton looked up and saw a red object. Fortunately, it did not hit the instrument.

The Daily Mail said the incident happened in the city of Hull, Humberside County, England in July and has just been released the investigation results a few days ago. The 76-year-old man was in the bedroom when he heard a loud noise. Soon after he saw something as big as a soccer ball piercing the roof and plunging down.

" I was really stunned. If that piece of metal fell into the street, it would have been lethal ," Welton said.

Because the piece of metal was too hot, Welton could not use his glove to pick it up. So he called the police. Officials asked the Defense Department to investigate the incident after many people believed the object fell from a military plane.

Experts of the Ministry of Defense confirmed that objects falling into Welton's house were garbage from the universe. It weighs about 2.2 kg. The object has moved from the position a few hundred kilometers from the earth before touching the ground. It glows red due to the process of rubbing with air at extremely high speeds.

The Royal Air Force informs Mr. Welton that the metal piece may be part of a spaceship or satellite that is no longer used.

Jeff Brock, spokesman for the British Royal Air Force, said: " After consulting with the US Aerospace and Space Agency, we concluded that the object is cosmic garbage. It flew. around the earth for at least a decade. This is the first piece of cosmic trash we have . "

Since the former Soviet Union introduced Sputnik 1 into space 51 years ago, humans have created tens of millions of pieces of trash in the universe. According to Daily Mail, the largest piece of cosmic trash is still flying around the earth as a telecommunications satellite called Vanguard 1. It was launched by the United States in 1958, but stopped in 1964.

Most cosmic trash will burn in the atmosphere when it falls to the ground. But large objects can touch the ground because they don't burn completely. They often fall into the Pacific or less populated areas.

Until now, it was recorded a case of people being hit by cosmic garbage. In 1997, a piece of metal nearly 13 cm long fell in the shoulder of Lottie Williams - a resident of Oklahoma, USA. Experts later confirmed that the piece of metal falling from a fuel tank of a rocket was launched last year. The victim was not injured by the impact.
