At different times in pregnancy, many women find that the private area gets wet when they laugh, cough, exercise, bend down or lift an object. This sign is called urination (urinary incontinence).

This happens because the pelvic floor muscles are stretched during pregnancy. It must support the pregnant belly and the growing weight of the fetus. The perineum muscles change when a pressure is applied to the abdomen, such as when you cough or bend, altering the activity of the urinary tract. As a result, some urine will be released out of control.

Urinary incontinence can occur at any time but is usually concentrated in the late stages of pregnancy. It tends to be serious for several days before birth.

To overcome urination, you should:

- Maintain pelvic floor exercises during pregnancy, help the pelvic floor muscles firm. Exercise is also a way to help you recover your physique after birth.

- Do not fill the bladder with water. When you feel angry, you should go to the bathroom. Saying so does not mean you limit drinking water because of lack of water will be harmful to the health of mother and baby.

Urination may also be a symptom of urinary tract infections. It suddenly appeared without a clear reason. You should see a doctor right away if your body is not feeling well or with other symptoms.

- If urination is not relieved after birth (especially after a period of time you practice pelvic floor muscle), talk to your doctor. You may need other treatments for a longer time.

- If you have frequent urination, you should choose underwear with high absorbency and change your underwear regularly. Avoid using sanitary pads continuously because it will make the airtight area mysterious, causing inflammation. Talk to your doctor if urination is out of control.

Distinguish from urination and amniotic fluid

1. Leaky : If the amniotic sac breaks, the amniotic fluid will spill out in quite a number from the private area. Amniotic fluid tends to flow out when you get up or after you sit or lie, even though you have been working slowly and carefully.

Amniotic fluid is usually clear, although it may be accompanied by pus or blood. Amniotic fluid has no odor.

2. Urination : Drainage in the private area when you cough, laugh or suddenly lie. Urine is in or has straw yellow color but has a special smell.
