US: hiding side effects of drugs fined 634 million USD

According to the decision of the US Department of Justice, Purdue Pharma Pharmaceutical Group and its leadership have to pay collective compensation of up to $ 634 million for hiding the addictive effects of OxyContin analgesics.

According to the judicial record, Purdue Pharma Group, including the president and former health officer, has been accused of addictive drugs when consumers use OxyContin. Earlier, the US health agency warned OxyContin is one of the most abused drugs in the country.

The management of Purdue Pharma Group affirmed that the addictive effect of OxyContin is lower than other analgesics.

However, according to the Ministry of Justice, the group has placed its interests above the public's interest in selling the OxyContin market because the government has obtained the opposite assertion.
