The aircraft can carry 7 passengers and is shaped like a miniature version of NASA-built space shuttle.

When completed, the Atlas rocket will be used to perform 6 transport missions to the International Space Station in 2024.

The test on Saturday helped test the aircraft during the final and landing stages of the flight.
