On November 27, 90 scientists from 30 Pasteur institutes around the world and more than 50 medical experts from Vietnam attended the Scientific Conference of the World Pasteur Institutes held in Hanoi.

In the past 20 years, the world has identified more than 30 emerging infectious diseases such as Ebola, HIV / AIDS, avian influenza, SARS, mad cow . that occur in continents and are at risk of causing pandemics. large, seriously affecting the health of the community.

Many infectious diseases that cause epidemics currently do not have specific treatment drugs, there are no vaccines for disease prevention, so it requires more investment and research in the future.

At the conference, scientists also warned the trend of integration, globalization, trade liberalization and increasing international exchange . are the conditions for infectious diseases to be at risk. enter, flare, spread and prolong.

Therefore, it is very important to improve the capacity of epidemiology and testing for early detection and rapid prevention of new and re-emerging diseases.
