On December 25, WAR announced this new discovery.
According to WAR, in the last days of 2008, WAR experts and National Park staff (Phu Quoc National Park) recorded an additional species of rare dragonfly present in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
This species was named by the WAR expert as the Rhinagrion mima (Karsch, 1891). This is a species of dragonfly that lives along streams along primeval forests.
Only 3 individuals were recorded along a section of streams deep within an oil field (Dipterocarpus) in the northern part of the island.
Long-term surveys and monitoring are essential for Phu Quoc National Park to complete the list of rare and precious flora and fauna of Phu Quoc and Vietnam.
