In the past eight years, Prof. Nguyen Thien Phuc and his colleagues at the Automation Research Center, Hanoi University of Technology have successfully developed many robocar models (self-propelled vehicles) that can be widely used in life.

Robocar is the name of improved robots capable of moving and performing assigned tasks, with high flexibility and 'intelligence' level.

The forerunner of the autonomous robot

The starting point of robocar is the RP robot model, designed and manufactured by members of the Automation Research Center in 2002.

This is a bio-simulation robot with a human arm design, using a pantograph with 2 moving slides, and is tasked with serving in the mechanical manufacturing workshop. The operation mechanism of this robot is quite simple, with a few predetermined operations, repeated.

Robocar is an upgrade plan so that RP robots can move themselves on wheels. This system consists of RP robot structure and the vehicle structure is uniformly controlled by sensors, processing equipment and control software program.

From this option, two robocar RP versions have been designed and operated, with application orientation in the industrial workshop.

The demand for 'smart' has led to the RP 02 robocar being born. With many improvements in the migration module and operating system, this robocar model can perform much more complex operations, with the application orientation being extended.

Robot enters life

From the industrial sector, robocar began to penetrate the service sector, requiring higher levels of intelligence and flexibility.

The product groups with diverse features have appeared, including: robocar serving disease prevention, robocar serving disabled people, sickness, robocar terrain, robocar guard, robocar guide.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Phuc, Director of the Center for Automation Research, said: "The robot manufacturing industry is making certain changes to move from thinking to using multi-purpose robots in industry to specialized robotic machines. Service life, new generations of robots will be smarter, able to handle complex situations that arise during the process. "

According to Master Nguyen Van Minh, head of the project 'Self-propelled vehicles for medical treatment in toxic, infectious or radioactive environments', robocar models PHC - 02, BB - 02 and CVT - 01 have been checked and accepted. In some hospitals in Hanoi such as Thanh Nhan Hospital, Textile Hospital .
