The 26-year-old nurse, infected with Ebola from Thomas Duncan, a Liberian citizen flew to the US in September. She was the one who took care of Duncan before he died on October 8. Nina was confirmed positive for the deadly virus on October 11, becoming the first person to be infected with Ebola in the United States.

Bentley, Nina's pet was taken to animal care after she was diagnosed with the disease. Bentley is negative for Ebola, but the incubation period lasts for 21 days has not ended until November 1. So, the nurse and her dog will probably reunite in the next few days.

Nina's colleague, nurse Amber Vison, 29, was also found positive for the Ebola virus on October 15. Meanwhile, Craig Spencer, a 33-year-old American doctor, has worked in West Africa with Ebola patients currently quarantined in New York City because of being positive for the virus.

The most serious Ebola epidemic in history has so far made at least 4,877 people dead, mostly in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO today plans to accelerate the preparation and deployment of experimental vaccines. The organization says hundreds of thousands of vaccines will be available in West Africa by the middle of next year.
