VNPT has enough potential to vigorously develop broadband services

Along with the successes of the Posts and Telecommunications (ICT) and Vietnam IT industries, in 2006, Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) made significant contributions to the overall achievements. On the sidelines of the Conference to deploy the implementation of VNPT's 2007 plan, which took place on January 18, the reporter had a quick interview with Minister Do Trung Ta around the content.

Reporter (Reporter) : Could you please tell the outstanding successes of Vietnam Post, Telecommunications and IT sector in 2006?

Minister Do Trung Ta (DP) : 2006 is the year that the Posts and Telecommunications industry and Vietnam IT have developed very fast with the great contribution of businesses. The cooperation and competition of businesses has boosted the market for Post, Telecommunications and IT to thrive. The development of 10 million phones is an example to illustrate the pace of development in the past year.

2006 was also the year the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications completed all documents to meet the industry development requirements at the time we joined the WTO. Therefore, the legal documents as well as domestic business forces have been carefully prepared. It can be said that at present, our internal force has been able to meet external forces with effective reception. In my opinion, these are two major characteristics in the last year of 2006.

Reporter : In this common success, there is the contribution of VNPT. According to the Minister, what are the most outstanding results of the Group?

Minister of Trade : In the overall achievements of the industry, VNPT is the business that contributes the most "weight". The biggest contribution is the expansion of the network into remote areas, fulfilling the goal of no gap in telephone and IT in the country.

Secondly, of the total number of post and telecommunication enterprises and IT contributing to the state budget of about VND 7,000 billion, VNPT alone has made VND 6,400 billion.

The Group has also overcome difficulties, rigorously reviewed its work and continued to promote development. Therefore, VNPT still retains its role as a leading enterprise in Posts and Telecommunications and IT. In 2006, the growth of VNPT was in line with the characteristics of the State allowed, becoming Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group.

Reporter : In 2007, VNPT will focus on focusing on developing broadband network. However, the implementation process also has difficulties. How can the Minister comment on the development of this sector and how to support it?

Minister of Posts and Telematics: Ministry of Post and Telematics always creates mechanisms to promote new businesses as well as old enterprises to develop and cooperate with each other to avoid loss of competition. These policies and mechanisms facilitate and guide businesses to develop in accordance with the Ministry's orientation, pay attention to business with public interest, domestic and international business, and the growth to advance. to compete between countries and nations. That is the concern of the Ministry.

VNPT itself has a human resource that ensures the speed as well as the acquisition and management of new technologies. Secondly, VNPT has a network infrastructure capable of providing broadband services. Third, the Group's finance is quite strong, so it is fully qualified to develop services.

Currently there are provinces VNPT has deployed broadband services down to the commune, basically how to promote the development market to be able to meet the needs of people to avoid the difference in supply - bridge.

Reporter : Return to Vietnam's success in 2006 with the impressive development of 10 million phones. According to the Minister, what is the meaning of this number in Vietnam at regional level?

Minister of Transport : It is not only meaningful in the region, but in 2006, with this number, Vietnam is also the world leader in the speed of telecommunications development. We are also one of 10 countries with a high population so this rate is highly appreciated by the world's mouthpiece.

But the biggest meaning to me is that it has demonstrated the capacity and strength of businesses and also forecasted the potential of the market is expanding very widely. Thus, we still have conditions to develop with the scale of the next years stronger.
