Whether to be a boss is due to genes

A gene in the body determines whether we become leaders or just follow the orders of others.

A team of University of London experts in the UK analyzed the genes of more than 4,000 people to understand the link between genetic mapping and leadership, Leadership Quarterly magazine coverage.

"We discovered a gene that determines the leadership of every human being. That gene is called rs4950. Its existence explains the phenomenon of leadership from the previous generation to the next generation , " said Dr. Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, leader of the research team, said.

But De Neve added that rs4950 exists in the body of about half the world's population. So it is only a necessary condition, not a sufficient condition, to become a leader or manager. Living environment, experience and other external factors also play an important role in the ability to lead others.

The team thinks that if people with brutal, illusory and arrogant nature possess the rs4950 gene , they could become scary leaders for history, like the German fascist Adolf Hitler. They also predict that in the future companies may require job seekers to provide genetic information so employers can identify those who are likely to become managers.
