Before I could understand what was happening, the bright lightning continued to appear, accompanied by another, louder thunder that lasted for about 10 seconds. I looked out the window and saw heavy rain pouring down. The heavy rain and thunder lasted for an hour. This was the first time in my life that I witnessed such loud and continuous thunder and lightning ," said Mr. Dang.

Similarly, Ms. Tran Ngoc An, a resident of Binh Thanh, was sleeping soundly when thunder and lightning and pouring rain woke her up. "In my 40 years of life, this is probably the first time I have seen such heavy rain and terrible thunder. My children were also scared and ran to their parents' room."

Many city residents witnessed heavy rain and terrifying thunder for the first time. Early this morning, the storm clouds moved towards the Mekong Delta provinces.

MSc. Le Thi Xuan Lan, a hydrometeorological forecaster, explained: " Due to the influence of the storm, the thunderstorm clouds have developed strongly . Last night, in the Southern region and Ho Chi Minh City, a series of large thunderstorm clouds appeared . The thunderstorm clouds themselves are charged due to the previous transition from vapor to water. When they link together into a chain, they will create large, widespread thunderstorms accompanied by thunder and lightning ."

At 4am this morning, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that storm No. 6 had weakened into a tropical depression. However, according to the forecast of the Japan Meteorological Agency, it is still a storm, will move back to the East Sea and then weaken into a tropical depression early tomorrow morning.
