'The best pregnant woman with lupus should not get pregnant, ' said Dr. Megan Clowse, head of the study.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease caused by the body producing antibodies against the body, causing symptoms such as pain, fever, rash and hair loss . In the United States alone, the disease affects about 1 , 5 million people, of which 90% are women.
All women with lupus have a higher risk of death than normal, but pregnant women are at higher risk.
