Yahoo launched online translation service
Yesterday (April 27), Yahoo launched the online translation tool Babel Fish.
Yahoo's Babel Fish tool also uses the same technology as Alta Vista's same-name service that has been online for nearly a decade. Not only is the Babel Fish site interface of Yahoo very similar to the service site of Alta Vista. However, Yahoo's service site has also been upgraded with some features associated with other Yahoo services.
Alta Vista's Babel Fish service has been online since 1997 and is the first online translation service on the Internet. At that time, Babel could only translate words, sentences or websites into or from English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian and Russian.
The latest version of Babel Fish service of Alta Vista has been added with 5 new languages including Greek, Dutch, Japanese, traditional Chinese and simple. Yahoo takes another step in developing services by integrating search products and toolbars.
Also introduce the trial version of Yahoo! Search Translator Beta. However, the service was initially launched in Germany and France, allowing users to translate search commands into different languages and conduct searches on those terms.
Users can now try Yahoo's new service at http://babelfish.yahoo.com/
