According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), super typhoon Man-yi with winds of up to 162km / h landed in Toyohashi City in Aichi Prefecture at 8am on July 16 local time. Japanese broadcaster NHK said at least 4 people were missing due to landslides and floods, 65 were injured, more than 860 houses were flooded.

Super Typhoon Man-yi then moved north - northeast at 55km / h. and sometimes the storm just 50km north of Tokyo, AFP reported.

The JMA warns of 'unprecedented heavy rain ' that will descend on Kyoto and neighboring provinces. Authorities in these provinces require about 291,000 households in the area to be affected by the storm. The Kyoto government proposed the Japanese Self-Defense Forces (JSF) to deploy soldiers to support rescue operations.

About 500 domestic flights scheduled to land in Tokyo today are canceled. Rail transport companies temporarily stopped providing services on major roads in central and eastern Japan, including Shinkansen high-speed trains between the cities of Shizuoka and Mishima.
