5 small but excellent technology ideas
The translucent mirror in the camera, the signboard translation application, the remote control that displays the content on the TV . is just one of the features on the product but offers many surprises to the users.
The News York Times newspaper (USA) combines interesting highlights in products of 2010.
Word Lens application
Just released 2 weeks ago, Word Lens application immediately became one of the most interesting iPhone programs of the year. Users just need to put the camera lens in front of the text, signs . need to check and this " language eye " will translate into the language they want at a fairly fast speed and without Internet connection.
Word Lens is a free virtual real-time interactive application (AR), but users must pay $ 5 to download language packs (currently only supported in English and Spanish). This is the result of 2.5 years of development by Otavio Good, founder of Quest Visual and John DeWeese, who participated in Electronic Arts' Spore game project.
Windows Phone camera
Microsoft's new operating system has a fresh, liberal design with plenty of innovations compared to the iPhone and Android. One of them is the photography function. People can press the shutter button to use the camera even when the phone is turned off.
Control Twin View TV
The Samsung 9000 TV series has an amazingly thin screen, supports 3D, Internet . But the most interesting point is located in the Twin View remote control. It is equipped with a color touch screen the size of an iPhone that is quite responsive, displaying parallel content on the TV. If you need to go to the kitchen, bathroom or terrace, users can take it with them to not miss any moments, even secretly watching what the children are watching.
Built-in USB camera
Another improvement of Samsung is that the PL90 camera is equipped with a USB connector (like a Flip cam). When you want to download photos from the camera to your computer, users do not need to worry about searching for cables or card readers, but just pull the USB plug in the device.
Translucent mirror camera
When aiming with a DSLR, the light enters the lens, reflects through the mirror, reaches the viewfinder, and at the same time enters the eyes of the photographer and the focus sensor. However, when shooting, this mirror is flipped so that light can be projected onto the image sensor (image sensor / film). At that time, the camera could not focus (temporarily blind). That is why most DSLR cameras cannot change focus when shooting continuously or recording video.
The Sony A55 has overcome this limitation by using translucent mirrors. It separates light between focus sensor and image sensor. The mirror does not move, so the focus feature is not "blind". Sony cameras can take 10 shots per second and continue to autofocus when users zoom and pan (no other camera can do that). Therefore, A55 was chosen as the camera of the year on the Popular Photography page.
