A large asteroid like a building can crash into Earth in 2079

A 30m-diameter asteroid is expected to crash into Earth after 62 years.

The 2012 TC4 asteroid has an estimated diameter of 10 to 30 meters across the Earth on October 12, at a distance of 43,452km, equal to one-ninth of the distance between the Earth and the Moon, according to Long Room.

Although asteroids do not hit Earth this time, experts warn us that we may not be so lucky in the future. In 2012 TC4 flew in 2079, researchers predict that this asteroid will collide with the Earth and the possibility of this becoming a reality is 1/750.

The 2012 TC4 times near the Earth in the future fall between 2019, 2050 and 2079, in which in 2019 and 2050, asteroids will fly through our planet at a safe distance.

ESA scientists track large asteroids across a building through the Very Large Telescope at the Southern European Observatory in Chile during this summer. The last two observations on July 27 - 31 and 5/8, show that 2012 TC4 will fly over at a distance of 1/8 of the distance from the Moon to Earth.

If 2012 TC4 crashed into the Earth, it would cause a much bigger disaster than the 18-meter asteroid exploded in the sky of Russia's Chelyabinsk city in 2013.
