Adobe does not intend to use Digital Editions to replace Reader, but this application is convenient because it integrates Reader-like e-book features and the ability to support Flash to create interactivity for publications. number.

Digital Editions is also included in Adobe Acrobat 8 ​​and Reader 8. Along with the ability to display PDFs, the application also supports XHTML format - manually adjusting the content to screen size.

Digital Editions fully supports Adobe's digital rights management for documents, allowing publishers to control who viewed the document; and the ability to support registration and advertising features.

Digital Editions is available for free, and currently the beta is for Windows only. The Mac OS X version will be available later this year, and the Linux version will be released next year after the Adobe Player 9 platform is announced.
