Adobe tested the software for reading new e-book documents

Adobe has released a test version of the Digital Editions web application, integrated for Flash with the aim of making the electronic document reading process better.

Once introduced at the Adobe MAX 2006 conference, the Digital Editions application weighs only 2.5MB. Adobe does not intend to use Digital Editions to replace Reader, but this application is convenient because it integrates Reader-like e-book features and the ability to support Flash to create interactivity for publications. number.

Digital Editions is also included in Adobe Acrobat 8 ​​and Reader 8. Along with the ability to display PDFs, the application also supports XHTML format - manually adjusting the content to screen size.

Digital Editions fully supports Adobe's digital rights management for documents, allowing publishers to control who viewed the document; and the ability to support registration and advertising features.

Digital Editions is available for free, and currently the beta is for Windows only. The Mac OS X version will be available later this year, and the Linux version will be released next year after the Adobe Player 9 platform is announced.
