Advertising to shape the customer
Electronic billboards will soon feel your appreciation of them, and change the look of your display to the eye of the consumer.
(Photo: ABConline) The new system is a product of National ICT Australia organization, called TABANAR order to advertisers who want to create new competition in a world flooded with billboards, posters ...
Developers of this technology are discussing its application to supermarkets. The system consists of an LCD screen and a small camera, both attached to a supermarket shelf filled with competing brands. It will feel when a person approaches and delivers a promotional message, such as a shampoo on the shelf. The cameras will then " observe " how the person reacts, whether expressions are interesting or not. If the visitor's face is facing the screen, the system concludes that the person is interested and continues advertising the brand.
But if they turn away, the screen will turn white or change the brand until it attracts the attention of the guest.
Mike Wu, a research fellow, said that this is a big improvement on the current type of e-commerce, which keeps sending messages regardless of whether the customer is interested or not.
Wu said the future designs of the system will be able to track the eye movement of guests, giving more accurate advice. It can also analyze whether the client is male or female, age and even race.
