All 4 Vietnamese students won the International Chemistry Olympiad prize

On the afternoon of July 28, at the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad closing and awarding ceremony, four Vietnamese students were named in the highest award categories; in which, 2 students won gold medals and 2 students won silver medals.

Two gold medals belong to two children of Hanoi-Amsterdam Professional High School: Pham Mai Phuong and Pham Ngan Giang. In particular, Pham Mai Phuong is one of three contestants with the highest score in the Chemistry Olympiad in 2014, along with candidates from Singapore and Ukraine.

Two silver medals belong to Hoai Quoc Doan, students of Hue National High School and Do Viet Hung, and Tran Phu-Hai Phong High School.

At the International Chemistry Olympiad in 2014, the organizers awarded 28 gold medals, 63 silver medals, 92 bronze medals and 10 consolation prizes to contestants.

On the afternoon of July 29, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam will hold a certificate of merit for Vietnamese contestants to achieve outstanding achievements at this year's International Chemistry Olympiad.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung warmly welcomed delegates, scientists, teachers and students from 77 countries and territories around the world to participate in the Chemistry Olympic Contest. International study in 2014, first held in Hanoi capital.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also thanked the important role of the International Chemistry Olympic Committee and Committee Chairman - Professor Peter Wothers; highly appreciate the efforts and effective coordination of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Organizing Committee, Universities and agencies and localities in successfully organizing the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad. 2014 in Vietnam.

Vietnam won many medals in the International Chemistry Olympiad

International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an exam for high school students aged under 20 years of all countries in the world, held annually since 1968 (except 1971).

Under the IChO rules, countries that officially attend will alternately host the annual exam. The 46th International Chemistry Olympiad Contest 2014 (IChO 2014), opened on July 21 morning.

There were about 1,500 delegates and more than 550 teachers and students from 77 countries and territories; including more than 290 students. The Vietnamese delegation has 4 students taking the exam.

Having successfully organized the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2007 and Physics 2008, in 2014, Vietnam was honored to be the seventh member of Asia to host this exam.

Vietnam has participated in the International Chemistry Olympiad since 1997.

In 2009, the Vietnamese delegation won 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals.

In 2010, all 4 members of the Vietnam Chemistry Olympiad attended the 42nd International Chemistry Olympiad, held in Tokyo, Japan, all won medals, including 2 silver and 2 medals chapter

In 2011, in Turkey, Vietnam's International Chemistry Olympiad students won 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

In 2012, in Washington, USA, the Vietnamese delegation won 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

In 2013, the International Chemistry Olympiad held in the Russian Federation, all 4 Vietnamese students participated in the medal; including 1 gold medal and 3 silver medals.
