AMD vied for Intel's market share

The latest statistics from research firm iSuppli showed that the market share of AMD's global processor chip market in the last quarter increased by 2.5%. This number is much higher than the previous forecast.

Meanwhile, AMD's direct competitor, Intel, lost 2% of the market share compared to the previous quarter's figure. But if compared with the statistics of July, Intel's market share increased by 0.5% rather than decreasing.

Picture 1 of AMD vied for Intel's market share 0.5% is also the number that AMD won the same period with Intel, bringing its total market share to 13.4% in the second quarter of this year. Competitor Intel holds 78.8% market share of the global microprocessor chip market.

AMD achieved the above positive results thanks to the price reduction strategy and the solution to increase the number of processor chips for laptops, desktop PCs and servers consumed in the global market. .

AMD's growth has put an end to Intel's three-quarter growth. But compared to the third quarter of 2006, AMD's market share was reduced by 6% from 16.8% to 10.9% in the first quarter of 2007. The cause of this large decline was due to the war. prices between AMD and Intel.

' The price war is dominating the global microprocessor chip market. AMD and Intel often face unexpected price reduction strategies from their competitors. We think the price war will continue for the whole year , 'iSupply said.
