Abbott's decision to reduce the price of Kaletra medicine was welcomed by Brazil's Ministry of Health and said it was an example for other companies around the world to follow.

Abbott has also imported a cheaper AIDS medicine from India. The company said it is also proposing to lower drug prices for 45 developing and low-income countries.

Brazil is currently seen as an example in the fight against HIV and AIDS, with efforts such as providing free medicine to patients. According to experts, this policy will help reduce the number of AIDS deaths by about half, while saving a significant cost for hospitals.
