Black sand beach appears in China

A large amount of black substance suddenly appeared on the sand in the east coast of Shandong Province, China caused the country's tourism industry to be affected.

People are worried that the black sand in the Qingdao coast related to the oil spill on the Bohai Sea appeared in June.

Xinhua said that scientists from the National Oceanographic Institute took samples to test and concluded that there was no harmful substance in the water, no flavors and no oil, so the black sand phenomenon was not caused by oil spill pollution.

Sand samples are also sent to the Qingdao Marine Geological Research Department. Experts here say that sand turns black because of the relatively high carbon black content in the sand, in addition to aluminum, sodium and other elements. Since then, the researchers said this could be a phenomenon of sea ash buried over the years and brought to the beach by the tide to form the phenomenon.
