Biosecurity chicken farming is the application of comprehensive and synchronous technical and management measures to prevent contact between poultry and pathogens, ensuring healthy, disease-free poultry .

Poultry farmers in general and chickens in particular are easy to fall into a loss if they are infected with the most dangerous disease, H5N1. Therefore, the National Agricultural Extension Center cooperates with Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper to organize an agricultural promotion forum @ the technology of 'biosafety chicken breeding' in Hai Duong, attracting the attention of more than 160 scientists learners, managers and farmers in the northern provinces.

The basic principle in biosecure poultry practice is that poultry must be kept in a protected environment, well cared for and all moving in and out of the camp, between areas within The camp must be controlled. The location of safe poultry sheds must be far from residential areas, hospitals, schools, markets . to avoid camps in places near rivers, streams and canals, ensuring clean water regularly.

According to Dr. Le Viet Anh - National Agricultural Extension Center, there are a series of measures to practice biosafety poultry farming:

- Close farming with each farm (there is only one breed in each camp and the same age. For breeding poultry, there should be breeding areas for different ages);
- Control diseases according to each area in the camp. Use safe seed.
- Breeding to isolate newly arrived poultry (in case of raising many herds and many litters).
- Preventing diseases by vaccines. Periodic testing, monitoring the circulation of pathogens.
- Sanitation and disinfection of breeding facilities during rearing and rearing.
- Waste treatment (by bigogas or composting), destruction of sick and dead poultry. Strict control of movement into and out of camp.
- Anti-intrusion of outside animals.

The forum became lively at the question and answer session directly between farmers and scientists about raising biosafety chickens. Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Kieu in Nam Sach (Hai Duong) asked about respiratory infections in chickens and was answered by Associate Professor Pham Sy Lang: 'Preventive measures by vaccination and repeated injections are necessary. More importantly, periodic cleaning is required in the barn because respiratory infections are also known as pollution. Treatment without safe hygiene measures and disease still relapses especially during the transition period '.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen of Tien Lang (Hai Phong) wondered what kind of mechanism H5N1 has spread to people, why there is no direct contact with sick chickens and vice versa. The above question was answered by Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung: 'Some people are exposed to chicken flu without getting sick but the blood test still finds antibodies to this virus. Blood test of chicken farmers in Thai Binh found that about 20% had antibodies. In the case of a patient infected with H5N1 abroad, initially unable to find the cause of infection because he did not eat poultry meat nor had contact with poultry, but thoroughly understanding that his home garden has many wild birds. resident'.

A farmer asked about the situation of the majority of farmers raising 100-1,000 poultry and raising in residential areas, what measures to achieve biosecurity? Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung answered: 'It is very dangerous to raise chickens next to residential areas but moving is difficult. This is a long and not easy process because it depends on land, planning and many other complex issues'.

Another poultry farm owner was interested in using food to ensure biosecurity and was instructed by Mr. Hoang Van Loc: 'People need to pay attention to the quality of food because the food takes up the ingredients. Great in product price constituents. Food that needs to be free from mold, pest, and food packaging must have a distinct aroma and no unusual color. It is best that people choose reputable firms'.

There are comments that would like to ask in detail about the cost of the formula for using medicine in biosafety chicken farming of Minh Dung Veterinary Drug Company and answered by the representative of this unit: 'Raising 100 broilers used Conventional medicine costs about 200,000 VND but raising the formula and using the company's medicine is 300-350,000 dong so many relatives wonder. However, if you consider carefully, raising chickens using the company's formula reduces the time of breeding from 5-7 days, reducing the death rate and reducing the barn pollution because it is herbal medicine and food is guaranteed. clean, safe ".

The time of the forum was limited, but the interest and opinions of the farmers still did not stop making it last longer in excitement .
