A 3-year-old boy in England has been applying a heart pump to maintain life while waiting for the organ to transplant.
3-year-old boy named Ashton Hutcheson, is the son of Shanna, 22 years old from Aberdeen.
Auston was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in October last year. It is a rare disease in children, mostly only in adults.
Instead of accepting death, the 3-year-old Auston took the last chance to survive by using a heart pump.
Auston is the second child in the world to use HeartWare heart pump to help him survive until an implant is available. This is considered the last hope to save Auston.
Previously, doctors thought that only heart transplants could save him. But Auston will most likely die before being implanted.
Shanna said: 'I think I can lose my child forever. The doctor gave me two choices. One is to bring Auston home and let my child die peacefully. The second is to carry out an operation for the child, but perhaps after this operation, Auston will die. As a mother, I am willing to do anything, as long as my child has the opportunity to survive. '
Then, in January, Ashton underwent an extremely complicated operation that lasted for eight hours.
Currently, the boy still survived, even playing happily with the happiness of Shanna's mother.
