In every election, voters often see the final result in front of a television, computer or mobile device such as a smartphone.
Now, researchers want to take advantage of that practice to make a camera that reads reactions out of your face when you know the information on the screen.
This software will monitor and analyze 24 points around the mouth, eyes and nose, and record the texture, color, shape and movement of the face.
Based on the data collected, MindReader can accurately depict a person's emotions, according to New Scientist.
Researchers have set the software to distinguish emotional states as happy and sad; depressed and excited; disgusting and satisfied.
While this technology may be of interest to the advertising industry, experts say its power lies in its ability to summarize human responses to events such as elections.
"I feel that the technology can allow us to provide a voice without the need to utter words to the crowd, thereby enhancing the power of the people in general," said Rana el Kaliouby, a MIT professor.
