Cats emit blue light thanks to genetic modification

Researchers at the Audubon New Orleans Biological Research Center in the United States have created a cat that can emit blue light by modifying its genes.

This cat is named by Mr Green Genes by scientists.

Under the effect of ultraviolet light, the cat's eyes, teeth and tongue emitted a blue light.

The cat Mr Green Genes is used by scientists to study the special abilities of some harmless genes. If successful, it will open the possibility of applying scientific advances to the prevention of disease by gene therapy.

Dr. Betsy Dresser, Director of Audubon New Orleans Biological Research Center, said the gene introduced and this cat did not have any effect on its health.

In fact, the type of gene introduced into this cat is primarily a protein capable of emitting blue light. This protein can penetrate deep into the animal's body at the cellular level. These special proteins will move in the body and mark the location of the cysts. After a period of treatment, the protein will automatically be excreted from the body.

Veterinary center Martha Gomez of the center said cats are an ideal animal for conducting such studies because their genes have many similarities to human genes.
