Dental examination at Huong Khe District Hospital - Ha Tinh (Photo: TTO) The jaw bone is inflamed due to many causes such as infection, trauma, wisdom teeth that are deviated. It may be local damage or bacteria by blood from other inflammatory organizations or systemic infections. The jaw is more prone to inflammation than other bones due to root involvement (acute or chronic tooth infections due to tooth extraction, tooth replacement, teething, wisdom teeth .).

Manifestations of osteomyelitis: Patients feel pain in the area of inflammation around the teeth, continuous pain and increased at night, fever 39-40oC high, tired, weak. If left untreated, the pain will spread to the jaw, face and severe pain, and painkillers are not effective at this time. The jaw is tightened, bad breath, increased salivation, lips are pouted. The patient's mouth is swollen, deformed on one side of the face, red-hot, congested, swollen teeth.

The lower jaw bone is more dense than the upper jaw bone, it is in a low position so there is fluid retention and bacterial secretion, and the bone shell is thicker so the excretion of waste is more difficult, the perfusion system is also more sparse than the upper jaw. Therefore, inflammation occurs more frequently in the lower jaw bone.

The process of osteomyelitis

Stage of acute hyperemia: Vascular dilatation, blood stasis, marrow inflammation occurs. This stage if early treatment can be reversed.

The stage of making pus: Many blood vessels are blocked, infected blood clots create abscesses in the bone that kill the marrow. The small pus in the large bone gradually destroys the periosteum spread to the software around the jawbone. Due to clogged blood vessels, osteonecrosis and osteomalacia appear to form bone. When the pus has escaped to the bone surface, the periosteum has peeled off. If the bone plate is large, it can cause pathological fractures. The pus and bone phase manifested by skin or mucosal or heavier bone leaks can cause septicemia.

Bone regeneration stage: About 15 days after the inflammatory process, there will be a new osteosarcoma and bone growth. Sometimes, the process of proliferation takes place so quickly that the fake tumors are enlarged.

Common complications: If late treatment of widespread infection causes arthritis arthritis, may lead to jaw joint stiffness, myositis, abscess around the jaw, pus infection, septicemia, pathological fracture, deformed or atrophy of the jaw.

For effective prevention, people need to keep their teeth and mouth clean, and brush their teeth at least twice a day after meals and use antibacterial mouthwash. You should go to the dentist and get tartar periodically (every 6 months).

For children who are replacing teeth and elderly people who have lost their teeth, the oral hygiene is more and more attentive. For those who suffer from tooth decay, gingivitis, wisdom teeth . besides keeping hygiene, they should go to the dental jaw specialist for the best treatment guidelines, avoiding unfortunate complications. out.
