Children who play sports will learn better

A study on 6th graders found active physical activities that improved their academic performance.

While children who participate in regular physical education classes do not have better academic results than those who sit in one place, those who play skateboarding or join a football team at least 3 times a week have scores. 10% higher in math, science, English and social studies.

The study followed 200 students in a school year. In one semester, half of the students participate in a regular physical education class provided by the school, the other half do not have any physical activity. After half a year of study, students exchange programs for each other.

"We surmise that students who take physical education will get better grades due to more active activities during the day. But the results show that participating in this class does not affect the score at all," said the researcher. Rescue heads Dawn Podulka Coe at Grand Valley University.

According to researchers, the school needs to review students' physical education program to promote their academic results.
