Students at 5 classes of 1-2 Chengguan High School in Wenxi County, Shanxi Province, have symptoms of high fever, headache, vomiting and cough when taken to hospital. A teacher then also hospitalized with similar symptoms.

According to Feng Zhi, deputy director of the Shanxi Center for Disease Control and Prevention, some patients with fever higher than 39 degrees C. Feng said 20 middle school students with severe illness are being treated at the hospital, four. Other births are being followed.

1 day earlier, 36 high school students were also hospitalized because of high fever symptoms and cough. The Shanxi Center for Disease Control and Prevention suspects this is an outbreak of bird flu after conducting tests.

Regarding avian influenza, on December 27, the Ministry of Health stocked 2.5 million Oseltamivir tablets and 475,000 doses of flu vaccine after reports of outbreaks of bird flu in the region.
