China shipped a 210,000-ton super cargo ship

The first large bulk cargo ship to run on 'dual fuel' developed by China was recently delivered to a partner in Singapore.

The ship, independently developed, designed and built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (SWS), was shipped out of Shanghai at the end of last month and was handed over to the owner, the East Taiping shipping company. Ocean EPS.

According to LLP Prime, the vehicle has a tonnage of up to 210,000 tons, is about 300 meters long and 50 meters wide. This is a type of bulk carrier (unpackaged cargo), mainly used to transport ore and coal. It runs on both liquefied natural gas and conventional oil fuel, allowing a round trip from China to Brazil to be completed with just one refueling.

As China aims to be carbon neutral by 2060, the ship's greenhouse gas emissions are designed to be 41 percent lower than international standards.

"We have made breakthroughs in the integrated design and development of gas supply systems and system debugging technologies, ensuring that liquefied natural gas can be safely and reliably converted to gas. reliably from -163°C to the gaseous state at 45°C," said SWS Vice President Zhang Wei.

China can now independently design a dual gas supply system and possesses a core set of technologies for storing, transporting, supplying and using liquefied natural gas.

In 2021, bulk carrier orders taken by Chinese shipping enterprises accounted for 76.4% of total new ship orders globally.
