Results from the first trials, which ended in June, showed that four antigens have been active at different levels in stimulating antibody production. According to Sinovac, at a dose of 10 micrograms, the vaccine showed the best effect, stimulating 78.3% of protective antibodies, exceeding the European Union's standard of 70% for 1 dose of flu vaccine.

120 vaccinated participants showed no serious adverse reactions. All blood and urine test results show that the vaccine is safe for users. According to the researchers, the vaccine is likely to be mass produced soon.

Sinovac said it was ready to conduct phase 2 trials. According to Chinese regulations, a vaccine would be allowed to enter the market after completing three phases of testing.
